Traffic Stop leads to impaired driving and drug-related charges      

Three people are facing charges after Chatham-Kent police stopped a vehicle on Park Avenue West in Chatham.

Police initiated the stop just before 4 a.m. Saturday morning.

Officers suspected the driver of the vehicle was driving while impaired by alcohol, so they took them to police headquarters for further evaluation, which revealed that all occupants were in possession of a controlled substances.

A 33-year-old Chatham woman was charged with operation while impaired, refusal to comply with demand, and possession of a controlled substance.

Police said the vehicle was towed, her driver’s license was seized and suspended for 90 days.

A 27-year-old Chatham man was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and a 30-year-old Chatham man was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance.

All three people were released pending a future court date on August 4, 2022.

Chatham man arrested following complaint 

A 44-year-old Chatham man was arrested Friday after Chatham-Kent police responded to an unwanted person complaint at a residence on Bedford Street.

Police said officers entered the residence and located the man inside.

He was arrested and charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling house and later released with a future court date on August 30, 2022.
