Kucera twins to play basketball in Europe

Two sisters from Chatham are headed overseas to chase their professional basketball dreams.

Logan and Jana Kucera graduated from St. Clair College in Windsor this past spring, where they played for four seasons on the Saints women's basketball team.

Now they are headed to Montenegro to play for Niksic 1995 in the Women's Adriatic Basketball Association (WABA).

The 5'6" guards are regarded as the most highly decorated St. Clair Women's Basketball players to come through the program.

They helped the Saints to the OCAA Provincial Championship each season where they earned three Silver Medals and the program's first-ever win at the CCAA National tournament in 2019.

Logan was named an OCAA West All-Rookie team selection in 2017-18, a 2-time OCAA West All-Star team selection (2019-20 & 2021-22), and a 2-time OCAA Championship All-Star (2019-20 & 2021-22) as well as being recognized nationally as a 2-time CCAA Academic All-Canadian (2019-20 & 2021-22). She was the Saints Rookie of the Year (2017-18), a 2-time Saints MVP (2019-20 & 2021-22) and led her squad in scoring during the 2019-20 season finishing her career with the 3rd most points in the program's history at 1,488 total.

Jana was 3-time OCAA West All-Star selection (2018-19 & 2021-22 1st Team, 2019-20 2nd Team and a 3-time OCAA Championship All-Star Selection (2018-19, 2019-20 & 2021-22). Nationally she won three CCAA Academic All-Canadian Awards (2018-19, 2019-20 & 2021-22) and was a 2nd team All-Star Selection at the National Championship tournament in 2018-19 after leading the province in scoring that season. Jana was the Saints Coaches Award winner in 2017-18 and the team's leading scorer and MVP in 2018-19 which led to a St. Clair College Al Hoffman Athlete of the Year for Outstanding Achievement Award. This past year she won the Mason MacDonald Graduating Athlete of the Year Award. Jana finished her career as the Saints 2nd leading scorer with 1,845 career points and the 3rd best average (16.3 PPG) in program history.

The Kucera's each completed three academic programs with Distinction in Autism and Behavioural Science, Educational Support and Fitness and Health Promotion receiving OCAA provincial acknowledgement as All-Academic performers each year.
