Closures for Canada Day in CK

Many CK residents will be off on Friday in recognition of Canada Day, which also means limited hours and closures throughout the municipality.

Municipal offices and most services will be closed on July 1 and CK Transit will not be running either.

The Health and Family Services building will be closed on July 1. Essential after-hours Public Health services are available by calling 1-866-446-8207.

Entegrus and the Public Utilities Commission will be closed. The emergency call number is 519-352-6300.

Due to the holiday, July 1 waste collection will be delayed by one day.

The Harwich and Wallaceburg Transfer Stations will be closed on Friday. All other transfer stations will be open regular hours and will not be affected by the holiday. Meanwhile, all leaf and yard depots in the municipality will be closed.

The Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool and Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool will be open on Friday for a Free Rec Swim from 1:30 to 4 p.m., while all other programming is cancelled. All outdoor pools will be closed on July 1. All arenas in Chatham-Kent will also be closed on Friday.

The Chatham Capitol Theatre, Kiwanis Theatre, Chatham Cultural Centre, Chatham-Kent Museum, Ridge House Museum, Thames Art Gallery and ARTspace, will be closed on Friday. The Milner House will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Several services offered at both Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s sites will be also altered in recognition of Canada Day.

During the statutory holiday, some outpatient diagnostic tests will take place. Patients with scheduled diagnostic tests are advised to attend their appointments. These departments will also be staffed to meet the needs of inpatients and emergencies.

Ambulatory care services, out-patient rehabilitation services, pre-surgical screening services, diabetes education centre, the TIA and CAD clinics, pulmonary function lab, outpatient lab services, health records and patient appointment offices will be closed on Friday.

The Chatham-Kent Mental Health and Addictions Program Outpatient Department will be closed on Friday as well as the Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine Clinic. The immediate crisis line can still be reached by calling 1-866-299-7447. Chatham-Kent’s municipal homeless response line will remain operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week and can be reached at 519-354-6628.

The COVID-19 Assessment Centre, located at the 10 Grand Avenue plaza in Chatham will be closed on July 1.

As per usual, all emergency services such as police, fire and EMS will be available 24/7. Emergency rooms at hospitals in Chatham and Wallaceburg will also be open.
