Motorcycle driver suffers life-threatening injuries after crash in Chatham

A 48-year-old Chatham man is fighting for his life in the hospital after a serious motorcycle crash Sunday evening.

Chatham-Kent police said emergency crews were called to the scene on Baldoon Road south of McNaughton Avenue in Chatham just after 8 p.m. Sunday.

Their investigation showed that a red 2004 Suzuki GXR motorcycle was heading north on Baldoon Road when the driver, who was riding alone, lost control and went off the road just north of Finch Avenue.

Police said after the motorcycle hit a "No Parking" sign after it went off the road.

The driver was thrown from the vehicle as a result of the crash and reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police said the man was taken to the hospital for medical attention, adding that family members have been notified, but the man's name is not being released at this time.
