Man arrested after breaking into Wallaceburg home

A 32-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing charges after a local homeowner made a startling discovery Sunday afternoon.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the home on Murray Street in Wallaceburg shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday and were met by the homeowner there.

He reported to police that when he had returned home, he found the door was forced open and there was a man in his living room.

Officers went inside and arrested the alleged intruder, then charged him break and enter and mischief.

The accused was taken back to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Check on parked car leads to two arrests

Two Chatham residents are facing charges after they were allegedly caught in a vehicle together.

Police said they found the pair while they were checking on the well-being of a man and a woman in a car that was in a parking lot on Third Street in Chatham at around 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

Officers said their investigation showed that the man and the woman had been ordered not to communicate with each other, so they were each arrested and charged with failing to comply.

They were then taken to police headquarters and later released with a future court date.
