Chatham-Kent man booked for assaulting woman

A 33-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing an assault charge after he was allegedly seen hitting a woman and pushing her up against a building.

Chatham-Kent police said the incident was reported to them just before 3 p.m. Thursday, adding that the alleged assault took place after the pair got into an argument.

The couple reportedly separated and left the area before police arrived, but officers were able to track them down a short distance away.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old man was charged with assault and was taken to police headquarters, then later released with a future court date.

Late night disturbance leads to two arrests in Chatham

Two men from out-of-town were both arrested in Chatham late Thursday night after police got a call about a disturbance on Grand Avenue East.

Police said they responded to the area just after 11 p.m. Thursday and found two men arguing.

Further investigation showed that one of the men had been ordered by two separate police services to stop communicating with the other man.

As a result a 35-year-old London man was arrested and charged with two counts of breaching his release conditions. He was taken back to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

The other man involved, a 35-year-old Penetanguishene man, was also arrested. He was charged with two counts of facilitating a breach of conditions and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Man accused of committing sexual assault while out past his curfew

A Wallaceburg man is facing a pair of charges after police were called to investigate an alleged sexual assault late last month.

Police said their investigation started on May 30 and involved an alleged incident after midnight on May 25.

Officers learned that the accused in the case was also on conditions to stay inside his residence between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

As a result, a 39-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with sexual assault and failing to comply with a release order.

He was taken to police headquarters and set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
