Walk for Alzheimer’s raises over $47,000

The Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent (ASCK) has logged its final steps and the totals are in for this year's IG Wealth Management Walk.

Although the fundraiser came in short of its goal to raise $55,000, the local chapter of the Alzheimer's Society raised over $47,000.

"While ASCK did not meet their fundraising goal this year, they are anything but disappointed as the real goal is to improve upon last year’s total and they did exactly that by 12 per cent," said ASCK Fund Development and Admin Coordinator Joel Emery. "Not only did ASCK see an increase in donations this year, but they also saw an increase in participation."

After two years of virtual walks, the society was able to expand its reach returning back to an in-person fundraiser with four weekly outdoor walks across Chatham-Kent.

"ASCK could not have achieved this new fundraising milestone without the tremendous support from their walkers, their in-kind sponsors, and their local sponsors," said Emery.

All of the money raised will help assist over 1,000 clients and care partners that ASCK cares for every year, and will ensure they have access to vital programs and services, like the day program and in-home respite care.
