Police looking for leads after Wheatley shed break-in

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips after someone broke into a shed in Wheatley and took off with about $2,000 worth of stolen property.

Police said a property owner called them at around 12:30 p.m. Monday to report they had seen a male and a female entering his shed on the property.

Investigators said by the time officers arrived at the scene, the two individuals had already taken off.

Police searching for stolen GMC pickup truck

Chatham-Kent police are putting out a call for tips from the public after a 2006 GMC Sierra was reported stolen.

Police said the owner of the vehicle called police just after 7:30 p.m. Monday after learning that a male suspect with black hair, wearing a black hat and a black hoodie was in the driver's seat of his vehicle while it was in a parking lot at 791 St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Officers said the suspect then drove the vehicle off of the property and was last seen heading east on Pioneer Line.

The pickup was last seen with Ontario license plate 4269XV.

This investigation remains under investigation, and police are requesting that anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Ken Muir at Kenmu@chatham-kent.ca.

Chatham man arrested after police find stolen vehicle

A 21-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after police found a stolen pickup truck early Tuesday morning.

Police said the red 2011 Ford F-150 was reported stolen from an address in Chatham on Sunday and officers managed to recover it at an address on St. Clair Street just after 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Police arrested the man who was inside the vehicle and charged him with motor vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

He was taken to police headquarters and later released with a future court date.
