Man arrested after attempted break-in

A 25-year-old Chatham-Kent man spent some time in Chatham-Kent police custody after he was arrested in connection with an attempted break-in in Ridgetown.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the scene on Erie Street North at around 6:45 a.m. Sunday, adding that the man fled the area as officers arrived.

Police were able to track him down a short distance away and arrested him.

The accused was charged with attempted break and enter and was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Crash investigation leads to impaired driving charge

A 44-year-old Comber man is facing an impaired driving charge after he allegedly crashed a vehicle on Talbot Trail in Romney Township.

Police said they responded to the scene near Coatsworth Road at around 11 a.m. Sunday and were able to connect the vehicle to a separate traffic complaint that had been filed about an hour earlier.

Officers believed the driver was impaired, so they conducted a field sobriety test and took him back to police headquarters for further testing.

As a result of the investigation the man was charged with impaired driving. He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Man accused of carrying meth, violating release conditions

A 34-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after police allegedly found him sitting at the front entrance of an address he had been ordered to stay away from.

Police said they found the man at the address on Cross Street in Chatham just before noon on Sunday while they were investigating a disturbance call.

Officers said they also allegedly found some suspected methamphetamine on the man when they were arresting him.

The accused was charged with drug possession and failing to comply with his release conditions and was later released with a future court date.

Woman accused of contacting man she wasn't supposed to

A 47-year-old Wallaceburg woman is in more trouble with the law after she allegedly contacted a specific man she had been banned from contacting.

Police said the communication ban was one of her bail conditions, adding that they arrested her after getting a tip about the violation shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday.

Officers said the woman was arrested, charged with failing to comply with a release order, and taken back to police headquarters.

She was later released with conditions and a future court date.
