Chatham murder case moving to trial

A Sarnia man accused of murdering a Chatham man last summer is going to trial.

Kyle Samko, 27, is charged with second degree murder in connection to the killing of Manny da Silva, 35, almost a year ago.

Chatham-Kent police reported in June of 2021 that an altercation took place on George Street near Park Avenue in Chatham involving several men who knew each other. Police said at that time that da Silva was seriously hurt and succumbed to his injuries at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

Samko's case will go to assignment court on September 26, 2022 to set a date for trial.

There is a publication ban preventing any evidence and any further information from being published to protect the fairness and integrity of the case.

Samko remains in custody at the jail in Windsor after his bail was denied in December.
