Services altered for Victoria Day in CK

As Ontarians ring in the unofficial start to summer on May 23, many people will have the day off and some businesses and agencies will be closed for the holiday.

On Monday, some outpatient diagnostic tests will take place at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Patients with scheduled diagnostic tests are advised to attend their appointments. These departments will also be staffed to meet the needs of inpatients and emergencies.

Ambulatory care services, out-patient rehabilitation services, pre-surgical screening services, the Diabetes Education Centre, the TIA and CAD clinics, pulmonary function lab, outpatient lab services, health records and patient appointment offices will be closed. The oncology/chemotherapy department will also be closed as well as Elston Pharmacy at the Chatham site and The Business Office and Cashier’s Office.

The Chatham-Kent Mental Health and Addictions Program Outpatient Department will be closed on Monday as well as the Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine Clinic. The immediate crisis line can still be reached by calling 1-866-299-7447.

Public Health King Street in Chatham will be closed on Friday and Monday. Essential after-hours public health services are available by calling 1-866-446-8207. Additionally, during evenings, weekend and on holidays, the Homeless Emergency Response Line can be reached at 519-354-6628

Anyone looking to get a COVID-19 test will be able to do so. The COVID-19 Assessment Centre, located at the 10 Grand Avenue plaza in Chatham will remain open on Monday.

The emergency departments at both the Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will be open as usual, 24 hours a day. Chatham-Kent police, fire and ambulances will also remain operational 24 hours a day.

Across Chatham-Kent, municipal offices will be closed on Monday.

Garbage and recycling collection services will be delayed by one day for the whole week of May 23 as a result of the holiday. The Harwich and Wallaceburg Transfer Stations will be closed on the holiday Monday while all other transfer stations will be open regular hours.  All Leaf and Yard Depots will be closed Monday.

All arenas in Chatham-Kent will be closed on Victoria Day, along with municipal pools and libraries.

Any residents who need to get around on Monday might have to find alternate modes of transportation with all Ride CK services not operating on May 23.
