Maroons drop game 3 in OT

A tough loss for the Chatham Maroons in game three of the GOJHL Western Conference Final, as they lost 5-4 in overtime to the Leamington Flyers.

The Maroons were leading 2-nothing at the end of the first period thanks to goals from Julian Gervais and Cameron Symons. The Flyers scored on the powerplay early in the second to cut the lead to 2-1, but Cameron Graham scored to put Chatham up 3-1 at the end of the period.

Cameron Welch then scored early in the third to put the Maroons up 4-1, but then Leamington scored three unanswered goals to tie it up and force the extra frame. Wyatt O'Neil scored the game-winner for the Flyers just 30 seconds into overtime.

Nolan DeKoning made 35 saves for the Maroons.

Leamington leads the series 2-1. Game four goes Wednesday night in Chatham at Memorial Arena, puck drop is 7 p.m.
