Volunteers sought for CK election audit committee

With the municipal election just over five months away, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent is looking for volunteers to sit on the Election Compliance Audit Committee.

The committee will operate as a quasi-judicial committee. According to municipal officials, prior experience on a committee, task force or tribunal would be an asset.

"Ideally, the committee’s composition would include an auditor, accountant, lawyer, and other individuals with knowledge of the campaign financing rules of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996," municipal officials said through a media release.

Additionally, any auditor or accountant appointed to the committee would have to agree in writing to not undertake the audits or preparation of the financial statements of any candidates seeking election to council

Anyone interested in joining must complete a volunteer application form and can include a brief bio and/or a resume highlighting relevant experience and qualifications. The form can be found by clicking here.

Volunteer forms must be received by the 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022 at any Municipal Centre or Municipal Information Desk, by fax to 519.436.3237, by email to ckclerk@chatham-kent.ca or by mail to  Judy Smith, Clerk, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, 315 King Street West, P.O. Box 640, Chatham ON, N7M 5K8.

The committee must be established before the 2022 municipal election voting day October 24, 2022.
