Man wielding hammer charged with assault 

Chatham-Kent police have charged a man with assault after he was allegedly attempting to hit people with a hammer.

According to police, the man took off in his vehicle but was stopped by officers who responded to the area.

Police said the man was also found to have been consuming alcohol.

He was arrested and charged with impaired operation over 80, assault with a weapon, and possession of a dangerous weapon.

He was released with a future court date.

Traffic stop leads to driving charges 

A Chatham-Kent man is in more trouble with the police after he was caught driving against his court order not to.

Police said officers stopped the vehicle on Park Street in Chatham. Officers found the man had been previously released and was prohibited from operating a vehicle.

He was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a release order and four counts of prohibited driving.

He was released with a future court date.

Drum set stolen from home in Chatham 

Chatham-Kent police are asking for help in locating a drum set that was stolen from a home on Victoria Street in Chatham.

Police said unkown suspects broke into the home sometime this past week and stole an EVI drum set valued over $3,500.
