Seasonal worker residence targeted for break-in

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they work to solve a break-in at a seasonal worker residence on Wrights Street in Dresden.

Police said the break-in was reported on Sunday, adding that three TV sticks were stolen.

Thousands of dollars worth of tools stolen during break-in

Chatham-Kent police are investigating after someone broke into a residence that was under construction and took off with about $10,000-$15,000 worth of tools.

Police said they were called to the scene on Lacroix Street on Sunday and learned that someone had broken into the home sometime over the weekend by forcing open a basement door.

Officers said "lots of damage" was also done to the site.

Damage to truck far exceeds value of stolen copper

Chatham-Kent police are investigating after someone caused $25,000 of damage to a truck in order to get away with only $50 worth of copper wire.

Police said at around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, unknown suspects cut a fence at a business compound on Merritt Avenue in Chatham in order to get inside.

The suspects then allegedly cut out the copper wire from a work truck.

Chatham resident arrested after police called to possible assault

A 59-year-old Chatham resident is in more trouble with the law after police picked her up while they were responding to a possible assault in Chatham Sunday afternoon.

Police said they were called to the area of Ursuline Avenue at around 2:40 p.m. Sunday and while they were investigating, officers learned that one of the parties involved was wanted for failing to comply with their undertaking.

The accused was arrested and later released with a future court date.

Wanted woman arrested after police receive suspicious person call

Chatham-Kent police managed to cross another name off their wanted list Sunday evening after they were called to investigate a possible break-in at a local home.

Police said they were called to an address on Victoria Avenue in Chatham at around 8 p.m. Sunday for a suspicious person possibly breaking into a house. When officers arrived, they didn't find any evidence of a break-in, but they did find a woman who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

A 49-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and later released with a future court date.

Vehicle stolen from Chatham turns up in Thamesville

Chatham-Kent police have made an arrest after they found a vehicle in Thamesville that had been reported stolen in Chatham.

Police said the vehicle was found at around 10:15 p.m. Sunday on Jane Road and had been reported stolen the day before.

A 38-year-old Chatham man was charged with possession of stolen property and he was later released with a future court date.

Man arrested for pulling fire alarm

A 33-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly pulled a fire alarm without cause.

Police said they arrested the man while they were following up on an alarm call at the condominiums on King Street West in Chatham at around 2 a.m. on Monday.

The accused was charged and later released with a future court date.
