Woman's dog bites violent ex-boyfriend during assault
A 56-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing charges after he allegedly grabbed his ex-girlfriend by the throat after an argument Wednesday night.
Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the scene at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and learned that the verbal argument had escalated to an assault where the man grabbed the woman's throat.
Police said the woman's dog then bit the man, which allowed her to break free. Once she was in a safe place, she called 911.
The accused was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats.
He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Traffic complaint leads police to impaired driver
A 29-year-old woman from Belle River is facing an impaired driving charge after Chatham-Kent police followed up on a driving complaint just outside of Tilbury.
Police responded to the complaint about a vehicle heading west on Queens Line near Wheeler Line in Tilbury at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and pulled the vehicle over.
Police said they believed the driver was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, so she was taken to police headquarters for breath tests.
A 29-year-old woman was later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit and she was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Woman arrested for public intoxication while walking with a child
A woman who was spotted walking with a child in Chatham at around 10 p.m. Wednesday night has been arrested for public intoxication.
Police said they found the woman while they were conducting a well-being check on St. Clair Street.
Officers said the woman was unable to care for herself due to intoxication, so she was taken back to police headquarters and held in custody until she sobered up.
The child was placed in the care of a relative.
