Poop bag call was a case of mistaken identity

A 54-year-old woman has been cautioned by police in Wallaceburg after someone called her in for throwing bags of feces at workers on a job site.

Police said the caller told them that a tenant was throwing the bags at some contractors who were working in the area of Margaret Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

Officers later learned that the bags the woman was throwing were full of peanut butter to feed some squirrels.

No charges were laid but police did advise the woman to stop throwing any objects.

Alvinston man arrested for impaired driving

The Chatham-Kent Police Service's crackdown on impaired drivers nabbed an alleged offender overnight.

Police said shortly before midnight, they got a call about a possible impaired driver in the area of Forhan Street in Wallaceburg.

The investigation led police to believe the man behind the wheel had been driving under the influence of alcohol, so he was taken back to police headquarters for breath tests.

The man was then charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit before he was released from custody pending a future court date.

Police called to resolve argument over keys

Chatham-Kent police had to play the role of referee during an argument between a man and a woman over a set of keys Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the pair was arguing in the area of Sandys Street in Chatham over the possession of keys to a residence.

Officers were able to resolve the issue and the keys were left with one of the two parties involved.
