CK Municipal offices set to reopen

Three municipal offices in Chatham-Kent that have been closed for a couple of weeks because of COVID-19 are set to reopen.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent said the service centres in Ridgetown, Tilbury, and Dresden will reopen on Thursday.

The centres have been closed since January 12 due to high levels of municipal staff under COVID-19 protocol.

“Our goal was to reopen the service centres as soon as it was appropriate to do so,” said Chatham-Kent General Manager and Chief Human Resources Officer Cathy Hoffman. “We will continue to closely monitor the situation to maximize the safety of our employees and services to the community.”

Last week, the municipality reported 110 municipal staff were off work or working from home because of the virus, which was down from 170 two weeks ago.

Hoffman said the Omicron variant remains a concern and citizens are still encouraged to use municipal online services even though the centres are open.

The Chatham and Dresden Service Ontario offices will remain open by appointment only.
