Man Charged with Domestic Violence

A 24-year-old man has been charged with domestic-related offences after a BB gun was allegedly found on him.

On Monday morning, police said they received a report of a suspicious man in the area of Grand Avenue West in Chatham with what appeared to be a gun in his coat. Officers found him and discovered he was also wanted for domestic-related offences.

The suspect, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, criminal harassment, and two counts of mischief under $5,000.

Woman Charged with Fraud

Police in Chatham-Kent have arrested and charged a 36-year-old woman with fraud after she allegedly cashed several stolen child support cheques.

Police said they began investigating the matter in February of 2021 and eventually identified the woman and a man responsible for the alleged fraud.

Investigators said the stolen cheques were sent to a woman in Chatham between June 2020 and August 2020.

A 33-year-old Chatham woman was arrested Monday night and charged with theft of mail and fraud-related offences.

A warrant has been issued for the 36-year-old man, of no fixed address.

Stolen Vehicles

Chatham-Kent police are asking for the public's help in solving a stolen vehicle mystery.

Police recovered a stolen grey 2022 Chevrolet Trax from Comber on Port Road between Cox Line and Gray Line in Tilbury East Township Monday afternoon.

Then later, someone stole a burgundy 2009 Ford Edge that was left unattended in the Circle K Convenience parking lot and officers are looking for it. The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates CAPX-239.

Police believe the incidents may be related and are asking for assistance.
