Blenheim golf course now playable on popular golf game

Golfers can now play the Willow Ridge golf course from the comfort of their own homes.

The course is featured on the new PGA Tour 2K21 video game, which includes 15 real-world golf courses, including stops on the tour's schedule.

Willow Ridge Golf and Country Club Head Golf Professional Chris Hill said the virtual course was designed by an employee who works on the grounds crew at the course.

"Our Head Superintendent Jeff Faflak's son Robbie, who works on the grounds crew here, saw that it was an option on the game to design your own golf course," said Hill.

Hill said Faflak's son took it upon himself and spent the last year designing the course on the platform.

"He did a fantastic job making it very much to the tee of what we have here, digitally," said Hill.

Now in the off-season, local golfers can actually play the course they are used to playing during the regular season.

"It's super cool," said Hill. "We just shared the news and the response we received from members and other people that play here often, is that they are excited," said Hill.

In previous years, Hill said the golf course has been the best-kept secret in Chatham-Kent.

However, the course has recently seen a lot of players from Windsor, London, and Sarnia come to play.

"It would be cool if this took off and more people from around London, Sarnia, and Windsor get a chance to play it when they're on the game and know that it's there," said Hill.  "If anything it's nice publicity and it sticks Willow Ridge in their heads for sure."

In terms of the future, Hill said he could see Robbie recreating the course again.

"It seemed like he enjoyed building the course on the game system," said Hill. "We've heard a lot of people say they enjoyed finding the course and I am sure they've enjoyed playing it."
