Fundraiser for rescued animals in CK brings in over $41K

A campaign to help with the financial costs of caring for abandoned and surrendered animals in Chatham-Kent raised over four times its goal.

Pet and Wildlife Rescue (PAWR) ran its Under One Roof from November 15, 2021, to December 31.

According to PAWR Operations Manager Myriam Armstrong, a grand total of $41,229 was raised.

“We had set our goal at $10,000 and we thought that was achievable,” said Armstrong. “We are humbled by the overwhelming success of this campaign and for the generous support of our community.”

PAWR is a registered charity and on its website, describes its main mission as raising animal care standards in the community through a variety of programs.

The money will be used for meeting daily animal care needs and to establish an emergency medical fund for the organization, which Armstrong said has always been a dream of hers.

Under One Roof was a new endeavour for the organization. Besides monetary donations, Armstrong said the goal of the campaign was to also raise awareness about PAWR's mission, its services and its programs.
