Several new doctors come to CKHA

Four new physicians are being welcomed to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

Dr. Abdelnasir Bashir joins the department of critical care, Dr. Andrew Yuen joins as a general surgeon, Dr. Dele Oyebode joins the department of psychiatry and Dr. William Hodge joins as an opthamologist. All four started practicing at the hospital in late summer and early fall.

Bashir began his medical education at the University of Gezira in Sudan before immigrating to Canada where he continued his medical education at McMaster University and then Western University.

Throughout his career, Bashir has worked in community hospitals throughout Ontario. Bashir also serves as a member of the Department of Critical Care at Swaidi Hospital in Saudi Arabia in his off time and frequently appears as a gust on Saudi TV.

As a staff psychiatrist, Oyebode will also assume the role of Chief of Psychiatry and Program Medical Director of the Mental Health and Addictions Program at CKHA.  Oyebode earned his MRCPsych from the University College Dublin in 2006. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2010.

Oyebode previously held the roles of Chief Psychiatrist and Maternal Mental Health Program Director at Weyburn Saskatchewan Health Authority.

A native of southern Ontario, Yuen completed his Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences at McMaster University and his Doctor of Medicine and General Surgery residency at the University of Toronto. He and his young family have recently relocated to Chatham .

Yuen is now accepting patient referrals and is located at 146 Queen Street in Chatham. His office can be reached by calling 519-397-1146.

Meanwhile, Hodge is also accepting patient referrals.

Hodge completed both his Doctor of Medicine and residency in Ophthalmology at McGill University. After completing a Master of Public Health in California, he returned home to Canada obtain his Doctor in Philosophy.
