Ridgetown is the latest community in Chatham-Kent to welcome in a new subdivision.
On Monday, there was a groundbreaking ceremony for Victoria Estates, the newest project from Nor-Built Construction and developer Paul Khangura.
According to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, Victoria Estates will feature custom-built homes.
Khangura said the community of Ridgetown is an ideal location.
"When I visited Ridgetown for the first time, I instantly saw a small community with huge potential," he said. "It has a thriving small-town feel, is a short drive to beautiful Rondeau, and has quick access to the 401 I instantly knew this was a great community to invest in."
The first phase of construction features five 1637 sq. ft. bungalow homes with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and double-car garages.
Phase 2, scheduled for late 2022, is set to bring in an additional five detached and six semi-detached homes.
Khangura added that he's brought on a pair of business partners to help acquire more properties in the Ridgetown area to pursue more development opportunities.
"Developers continue to choose Chatham-Kent for their projects because they see an expanding community, one that's trending upwards, with excellent potential for future growth and a great backbone of community support," said Mayor Darrin Canniff. "Chatham-Kent continues to grow our reputation as a great place to live, work, play, and invest and we're doing everything we can to support this."
