Another school for sale in Chatham

The former Monsignor Uyen Catholic School in Chatham is up for sale.

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board has officially listed the property at 255 Lark Street for sale on the open market.

School board officials said there was no interest in the school after it was offered as surplus property to an approved list of public sector agencies, which is required by law.

"Having met the requirements of Ontario Regulation 444/98, the Board is now pleased to move forward with an RFO to place the former Monsignor Uyen property on the open market," said Associate Director of Corporate Services and Treasurer Amy Janssens.

The property is approximately 4.5 acres in size and includes a one-floor school building of approximately 29,106 square feet. The building has 15 classrooms, a gymnasium, an office, a library, a meeting room, and a staffroom.

The building is 53 years old and had an addition built 30 years ago. Any questions regarding the property can be sent to purchasing@st-clair.net.

The former Monsignor Uyen school closed in June 2021 and students and staff relocated to the new Monsignor Uyen Catholic School on Baldoon Road in September.

There are two open houses in November 2021. One is on the 18th from 9 a.m. until noon and the other is on the 23rd between noon and 4 p.m.

Submissions must be received by December 2, 2021 at 2 p.m.
