Remembrance Day in Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent is honouring veterans and marking this Remembrance Day with several ceremonies throughout the region.

CKNewsToday.ca has compiled a list of all the ceremonies and their locations.

Chatham:

Similar to last year, Remembrance Day activities are scheduled to be held at the Bradley Centre on November 9. Local politicians, veterans and their families will attend the ceremony, which will include the traditional laying of the wreaths, followed by a dinner for veterans and families.

The ceremony is invite-only and not open to the public. It will be televised on Cogeco TV on November 11.

On Thursday, November 11, there will be a march from the Chatham Armoury to the cenotaph. The in-person ceremony at the cenotaph will begin at 11 a.m. Residents are asked to arrive by 10:50 a.m.

Tilbury: 

A Remembrance Day service will be held at the Cenotaph on Main Street in Tilbury at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 11. Residents are asked to arrive by 10:50 a.m.

Ridgetown: 

On Thursday, November 11, the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a service at the Ridgetown Cenotaph Park at 11 a.m. All veterans and members of the public are welcome to attend. Following the service, there will be a luncheon provided by the Branch 243 Ladies Auxilary.

The Highgate Remembrance Day service has been cancelled because of the pandemic.

Blenheim:

The Blenheim ceremony is at 11 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 185.

Thamesville:

Residents are invited to meet at the Thamesville Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 367 at 10:45 a.m. There will be a march to the cenotaph for a ceremony at 11 a.m. Residents are invited to go back to the legion for a lunch, which will be free of charge.

Merlin: 

In Merlin, the public can gather for a small service at the cenotaph on Erie Street North starting at 10:45 a.m. The public is invited back to the legion for a lunch at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 465.

Wallaceburg: 

The service will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the cenotaph in Wallaceburg.
