UPDATE: Power restored for Entegrus customers in Chatham

A power outage that affected a couple thousand Entegrus customers in Chatham Thursday is being blamed on a contractor hitting a cable.

Entegrus posted a note to Twitter Friday morning, noting that most customers had their power restored within a couple of hours. The power provider also noted that it apologizes for any inconvenience its customers experienced while crews worked to safely restore power.

Crews first reported the outage just after 11 a.m. Thursday and it affected about 3,000 customers in Chatham.

At the time, the power provider said it was "working hard to restore service as quickly as possible." By 2 p.m., power had been restored for several customers. However, Entegrus reported that the Thames Lea Plaza area, along with Trillium Village, Churchill Street, Grand Avenue and Mary and Siskind areas were still without power.

By 3:15 p.m., all areas in Chatham had power restored.
