Woman accused of throwing iPad at man during argument

A 21-year-old Blenheim woman is facing an assault charge after she allegedly threw an iPad at someone.

Chatham-Kent police said their investigation showed that the woman was arguing with a man at a residence in the Blenheim area at the time of the incident Thursday morning.

The woman was arrested, charged with assault with a weapon, and later released with a future court date.

Shoplifter arrested in Chatham

A 51-year-old man has been charged after police were called to investigate a shoplifting complaint at a variety store in Chatham Thursday morning.

Police said officers found the man a short distance away from the store and arrested him.

Officers said the man was charged with engaging in a prohibited activity as per the Trespass to Property Act -- he was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The man was later released pending a future court date.

Man arrested after domestic violence call

A 30-year-old Chatham man has been arrested after he allegedly damaged a window at a home in Chatham and grabbed a woman's cell phone as she tried to call for help.

Police said they were called to the scene Thursday night, adding that the accused was charged with mischief and interfering with the lawful use of property.

He was later released with a future court date.

Man accused of stealing alcohol twice from the same place

A 29-year-old Ridgetown man who wasn't supposed to be drinking alcohol has been arrested after he allegedly stole some liquor from the same business in Ridgetown twice.

Police said they were called to the business Thursday afternoon, adding that their investigation showed the man had also damaged a window and the front door of his house.

Officers found him later and arrested him.

He was charged with two counts of theft, one count of mischief, and one count of failing to comply with his probation order by consuming alcohol.

He was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
