Teddy, the missing rubber duck, has been found

A yellow trailer top shaped like a duck that went missing along Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent earlier this month has been found.

The rubber duck known as "Teddy Ginsbird", went missing after coming loose along the highway during a strong storm on October 15.

Earlier this week, Owner Simon Shaw announced on social media that Teddy had been found.

"A couple of guys were off that night to go hunting and I passed them on the 401," said Shaw. "So of course they noticed this giant rubber duck being pulled along behind my truck."

He said within minutes the guys must have seen the top of the trailer somewhere along the stretch of highway.

"They went back and picked him up," said Shaw. "And then took him on a 10-day hunting trip."

According to Shaw, a lady who was driving along the 401 saw Teddy in the back of a pickup truck and called him. The two took to social media and eventually got in touch with the guys who picked Teddy up.

"I offered him a reward... which he didn't want," said Shaw. "He said he just wanted to give it back to me."

The top half of the trailer is being kept at a residence in Tilbury for safekeeping until arrangements can be made for its retrieval.

"It's the best-case scenario," said Shaw. "I might even have had a little bit of a cry and there might have been some dancing. I am absolutely overwhelmed with the turnout - a happy guy, a happy duck."

Shaw noted he is planning to make the drive from Toronto to Tilbury to retrieve Teddy in the coming days.
