Santa and Mrs. Claus to drive by Tilbury homes

Check your street, check it twice, Santa Claus is driving by.

Although families will not see the traditional Santa Claus parade in Tilbury this year, organizers behind the event have ensured that Jolly Old St. Nick will still make an appearance.

Ward 1 Councillor Mark Authier has confirmed the couple from the North Pole will be driving by everyone's home in the town on Saturday, December 4, 2021.

The Tilbury 2021 Drive-By Santa event will start at 5:30 p.m. from the northeast side of town and make its way head south.

"It usually takes about three hours to drive through the town," said Authier. "We are going to start a little earlier this year because last year we missed some children who were already in bed."

According to Authier, the event attracted hundreds of children throughout the community.

"Everyone seems to love it," said Authier. "It seems like a lot of people are happy that we decided to do this again."

The idea came about after the traditional Santa Claus Parade and Festival of Lights were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are just getting all of the details together now," said Authier. "However, we are asking residents to stay in their own yards to respect social distancing guidelines."
