Maroons double Lincolns in Sunday GOJHL action

Chatham doubled St. Marys 6-3 in GOJHL action Sunday.

But the early part of the game told a different story.

The St. Marys Lincolns scored two quick goals to open the first period.

Joe Mazur scored the opening goal at the 1:18 mark of the first followed by Thomas Munro's third of the season at 2:04.

Chatham would battle back through the rest of the period.

Dylan Glinski got Chatham on the board at the 3:44 mark.

It wouldn't be until after the midway point of the first period until the next goal would be scored. And it was Chatham at the 12:49 mark to even the game at two with Brody Fraleigh picking up his first of the season.

Chatham would then get the go ahead goal with just 40 seconds left in the period courtesy of Lucas Fancy.

Both teams exchanged goals in the second period.

Then in the third, Chatham took over, scoring twice sealing the win.

Maroons goalie Luka Dobrich made 36 saves while Bryce Walcarius made 32 saves in the Lincoln's net.

With the win, Chatham keeps pace with LaSalle at the top of the Western Conference, and is just two points behind the Vipers.

St. Marys falls to a record of 4-4.

Chatham is on the road for its next game, in Komoka on Saturday, October 23.
