Unknown suspect in bicycle theft

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips after a white CCM mountain bike was reported stolen from Circle K Variety Saturday night.

Police arrived to the scene at approximately 10:15 p.m. Saturday and said the suspect has yet to be identified.

Officials are asking for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Arson on Third Street

Police responded to a call of arson around 11:00 p.m. Saturday.

A resident on Third Street in Chatham allegedly set fire to a plastic storage container filled with paper inside her living room.

The 38-year-old Chatham woman was charged with arson and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters.

Watch for wildlife

Motorists are asked to be more vigilant on the road during dusk and dawn to avoid deer collisions.

Officers are advised to scan roads shoulder to shoulder, use high beams at night, and be mindful if one animal is crossing the road that others may follow.

Precautions will reduce collisions, save lives, and protect wildlife.
