Man taken to hospital after overdose 

A man has a future court date after police allegedly caught him in his former apartment unit in Chatham on Sunday.

According to police, officers responded to a complaint of people being inside a vacant unit of an apartment building on Sheldon Avenue.

Officers entered the unit and allegedly found a former tenant inside who had overdosed.

The 50-year-old Chatham man was transported to the hospital for medical assessment.

He was charged with mischief as well as with unlawfully being in a dwelling and was released from the hospital with a future court date.

Multiple warrant arrests

Chatham-Kent police kept busy over the Thanksgiving weekend with several warrant arrests.

On Sunday, while investigating an incident on Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg, officers located a man and woman who were wanted for failing to attend court.

The 26-year-old woman and 27-year-old man, both from Wallaceburg, were arrested and released with a future court date.

Also on Sunday, officers on general patrol in Chatham located a man on Gray Street who was wanted for failing to attend court.

The 32-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a future court date.

Elsewhere, police were called to a bank on King Street West in Chatham in response to a complaint about a man sleeping beside the ATM.

Officers located the 24-year-old man and discovered he had an outstanding warrant for mischief and forgery.

He was given a future court date and released.
