Two men arrested after allegedly using a hammer and pipe shotgun to steal a backpack 

Two men are facing charges after allegedly using a hammer and a pipe shotgun to threaten a man from St. Thomas Wednesday night.

Chatham-Kent police said a man stole the victim’s backpack and rode off on a bicycle while in the company of another man.

Police said the two men were arrested shortly after on Queen Street and taken into custody.

As a result, a 22-year-old man was charged with assault with a weapon, being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, being in possession of a prohibited weapon, robbery and failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

An 18-year-old Chatham man was also charged with being in possession of a prohibited weapon.

He was released pending a future court date.

Failing to comply with conditions leads to domestic-related charges 

A 60-year-old Blenheim man is facing charges after he was found inside a woman’s home in Dresden.

Chatham-Kent police said the man’s conditions stated that he was to remain in his residence, stay out of the town of Dresden, and not to communicate or be within 100 metres of a specific Dresden woman.

Police said the man attended the woman’s home and entered without being invited or given permission.

He was arrested and charged with break and enter along with four counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested for skipping out on court-ordered program

Chatham-Kent police have arrested and charged a 36-year-old Chatham man after he was found walking along police property on Murray Street Wednesday.

Police said the man failed to comply with a condition which was to report to the Bail Supervision Program.

The man was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.  He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham woman charged with failing to comply

A 25-year-old Chatham woman is facing charges after she was found by Chatham-Kent police hiding in a bathroom.

Police said the woman entered into a probation order last July with several conditions, one being to not contact or communicate with a specific Chatham man.

Police said the woman went to the man’s home Wednesday morning, which resulted in an argument.

Officers responded to the disturbance and found the accused hiding in the bathroom. She was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her probation order.

She was released with a future court date on November 3.

Two Chatham teens charged

Chatham-Kent police have arrested and charged two teenage girls in connection to a high school fight.

Police said information was received Tuesday afternoon about a physical altercation that occurred between three female students from the same school.

Police said a 15-year-old youth was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm, as well as a 14-year-old youth who was also charged with the same offence.

Both teens were released with a future court date on November 8.
