Regional map to show the best and brightest light displays across Chatham-Kent

With the holiday season around the corner, Chatham-Kent residents will soon be able to take in the best and brightest displays around the region.

The municipality says it will be working with several community organizations to create a regional map highlighting all of the light displays in Chatham-Kent.

"We wanted to work with communities to provide an opportunity for everyone to see all of Chatham-Kent," said Manager of Corporate Initiatives Amy Wilcox.

Wilcox said in addition to the map, the municipality will run a regional reward and voting program along with Wallaceburg and Blenheim.

"The areas with their own community light display organizations will continue to run their independent area programs," said Wilcox. "We're just adding to that so that regionally, everyone has an opportunity."

Homeowners who register their homes on the regional map will be entered into the 12 Days of Christmas Draw, which will run from December 1 to December 12.

"The owners of the local Canadian Tire stores in Chatham, Tilbury, Wallaceburg, and Blenheim will be providing gift cards for the draw," said Wilcox.

People are being asked to decorate their homes with holiday lights and post photos and list neighbourhoods on the Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent webpage to allow the public to view the photos online or to drive or walk through the listed neighbourhoods.

The map is mobile phone friendly so residents can take it with them when touring.

Residents will be able to start registering their homes on November 15, 2021.
