Children's Paw Patrol costume recalled over flammability concerns

Health Canada has issued a recall for a costume from a popular kids' television show over concerns that the fabric can easily catch fire.

According to the agency, the Kids Paw Patrol Skye Costume distributed by Rubies II does not meet flammability requirements, as determined by its sampling and evaluation program.

"If exposed to ignition sources such as stove elements, candles, matches or lighters, the Kids Paw Patrol Skye Costume can catch fire, posing a risk to children," Health Canada said on its website.

The costume's item code is 610503 and the affected sizes are toddler and small.

Rubies II distributed around 1,300 costumes nationally and the affected product was sold before September 2021. As of September 24, 2021, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada related to the costume.

Health Canada recommends that the Kids Paw Patrol Skye Costume is immediately taken away from children and returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The agency also notes that redistributing, selling or giving away a recalled product is prohibited in Canada under the Consumer Product Safety Act.
