COVID-19 outbreak declared at Chatham church

Health officials are asking patrons of a local church to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms following an outbreak.

CK Public Health declared an outbreak at Praise Fellowship Church on Monday after multiple confirmed cases of COVID-19 and evidence of transmission was linked to in-person activities at the church.

Chatham-Kent Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Colby said anyone who visited or participated in any activities at the church located at 165 Park Avenue East since Sunday, August 29, should get tested immediately.

He added those activities include Sunday services, soup kitchen, prayer group, youth group, and devotional groups but not those who voted or worked at the Elections Canada advance polling station at the same site.

Testing appointments can be booked at Chatham’s Assessment Centre located at 10 Grand Avenue West online, by visiting the centre, or calling 519-436-2556.
