Man accused of threatening woman and her dog

A 47-year-old man is facing two counts of uttering threats after he allegedly yelled at a woman and her dog while they were out for a walk in Tilbury Thursday afternoon.

Police said the woman was walking her dog on Queen Street when the man threatened her and her pet.

The accused was later arrested, charged, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Charge laid after car-motorcycle collision

A 22-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with failing to yield the right of way after a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on Grand Avenue West in Chatham Thursday evening.

Police said they were called to the scene at around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, adding that the driver of the car was charged in connection with the crash.

The motorcycle driver, identified as a 55-year-old Belle River man, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The damage was estimated at $20,000.

Woman accused of stealing groceries, assaulting employee

A 41-year-old Walpole Island woman is facing charges after she allegedly stole about $200 worth of groceries and assaulted an employee.

Chatham-Kent police said their investigation started after they received a shoplifting complaint at No Frills in Wallaceburg Thursday afternoon.

Police said at that time, they learned the woman had stolen some groceries and later arrested her at Home Hardware.

She was charged with two counts of theft, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and one count of assault. The accused was later released pending a future court date.

Mischief complaint leads to charges

A 35-year-old man is facing charges after Chatham-Kent police allegedly found him walking along some train tracks with some stolen property in his possession early Friday morning.

Police said they found the man while they were investigating a mischief complaint on Park Avenue West at around 1 a.m. Friday.

Officers said their investigation showed that someone had smashed the window of a truck in the parking lot on that street sometime between 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 12:30 a.m. Friday and took off with a Honda generator.

Police said when they searched the area, they found a man walking along the tracks near the parking lot in possession of the stolen generator.

He also allegedly had a dufflebag with him that had a window punch, a crow bar, some rubber gloves, and some tools inside that were stolen from a nearby business.

The total value of the stolen items that police recovered was about $1,500.

The man was arrested, charged with one count each of mischief and possession of break-in tools, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Man accused of stealing MP3 players will face the music

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly shoplifted a pair of MP3 players from Walmart in Chatham.

Police said the man, who was also banned from the store, walked in there Thursday morning, concealed the two devices on his person and left without paying for them.

Officers said the value of the stolen goods is about $56, adding that they were able to identify a suspect with the help of some video surveillance.

The accused was arrested and charged with theft, possession of stolen property, failing to comply with his release conditions, and breaching his probation.
