While St. Clair College is not mandating vaccinations for students returning to the classroom, they will be required for those living on campus or playing sports.

In a message to students on Tuesday, the college announced it developed a vaccination policy with third-party partners, requiring all students living on campus to have received at least one dose of a Health Canada or World Health Organization approved COVID-19 vaccine before moving in.

“Students will also be required to receive their second dose of the vaccine within the required minimum period and provide proof that they have done so,” the message read. “Students who can receive a second dose of the vaccine prior to arriving on campus are strongly encouraged to do so.”

After discussions with local health authorities and the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association, St. Clair College developed a similar policy that will require varsity athletes and staff to be vaccinated in order to participate.

“Individuals who cannot get vaccinated for medical reasons or other grounds protected by the Ontario Human Rights Code can request an accommodation,” the message read.

Information on the process to request accommodation will be provided to students, varsity athletes, and staff.
