The lucky winner of the 2021 Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (CKHAF) Igniting Healthcare 50/50 draw has won $131,260.
The winning ticket is A-7240906 and was drawn Thursday afternoon.
The total amount raised was $262,520.
The proceeds of the annual fundraiser will buy six new electrocardiograph machines for the hospitals in Chatham and Wallaceburg.
Electrocardiograms (ECG) are quick, safe, and painless tests that check for signs of heart disease by recording the electrical activity of a heart. The ECG testing can help doctors find the cause of palpitations or chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath or fainting; check how well medicines are working and their effect on the heart; and check how well mechanical devices that are implanted in the heart, such as pacemakers, are working to control abnormal heart activity.
Small electrodes are placed on a patient's arms, legs and chest and wires connect these electrodes to the ECG machine.
CKHA completes an average of 40-50 ECG tests every day.
"By supporting this fundraiser, you are helping to enhance cardiac care at CKHA," said CKHAF in a statement on its website.
Last year, the foundation raised $345,740.
