Attempted murder charges laid after Wallaceburg shooting

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Wallaceburg and they've both been charged with attempted murder.

Chatham-Kent police said on Tuesday that they had arrested a 31-year-old Wallaceburg man in connection with the case and charged him with two counts of pointing a firearm and one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing and was then remanded in custody until July 30, 2021.

In a separate release Wednesday morning, police said they have also arrested a man and a woman who were involved in the altercation that took place Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Victoria Street and King Street.

A 27-year-old Wilkesport man and a 36-year-old Wallaceburg woman were both arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with attempted murder.

The 27-year-old man is also charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, using a firearm to commit an offence, and possession of a weapon while prohibited.

The 36-year-old woman is facing an additional charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Both of the accused were taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
