Single-vehicle crash outside of Chatham seriously injures one person

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Chatham-Kent are seeking witnesses after an early morning crash near Dover Centre sent three people to hospital.

At around 6:46 a.m. Friday, OPP were called to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 40 near Bush Line. Officers arrived on scene and discovered a vehicle left the road and came to rest in a nearby ditch.

Chatham-Kent firefighters and paramedics arrived to assist OPP and three occupants were extracted from the car and taken to hospital. Police say two people were treated with minor wounds, while a third suffered life-threatening injuries. No other details on the current condition of the occupants have been provided.

Highway 40 was closed for several hours on Friday while the scene was cleared.

The Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) unit is assisting with the investigation. Chatham-Kent OPP are searching for anyone who may have witnessed the crash.
