Trio arrested during traffic stop 

Three people are facing drug-related charges after a traffic stop in Chatham-Kent.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday, police pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation.

Through investigation, officers learned that there were grounds to arrest all three occupants for allegedly possessing methamphetamine and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.

According to police, the street value of the drugs was around $6,600.

A 55-year-old Chatham man and a 45-year-old Blenheim woman were held in custody pending a bail hearing. Meanwhile, a 49-year-old woman from Sarnia was released from custody with a court date in August.

Man arrested twice in same day

A Chatham man will have to answer to multiple charges after getting arrested twice in one day.

According to police, the man was first arrested around 4:15 p.m. Thursday on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

He was eventually released with a future court date.

However, just two and a half hours later, officers located the same man allegedly going through vehicles at a business on Queens Line.

As a result, he was arrested again, this time for theft under $5,000 and possession under $5,000.

The 25-year-old was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Several warrant arrests across Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police were kept busy on Thursday with several arrests for outstanding warrants in Wallaceburg.

On Main Street, officers were able to locate a 29-year-old woman who was wanted on a warrant for failing to attend court.

She was arrested and eventually released with a future court date.

Early Thursday evening, police arrested a 52-year-old Wallaceburg man on Nelson Street who was wanted for not attending court.

The man was given an August court date and released.

Later in the night, officers responded to an address on Queen Street to arrest a man who was wanted for a break and enter as well as several vehicle offences and failing to comply with his probation.

According to police, the man refused to surrender to the officers. As a result, police got a warrant to enter the dwelling.

The 42-year-old Dresden man was arrested and held for a bail hearing.
