Woman charged with drug offences 

A 21-year-old woman is facing a pair of drug-related charges after an investigation in Wallaceburg.

Around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Chatham-Kent police responded to a residence on Wallace Street to help EMS.

According to police, a woman in the home was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, a debt list, and a scale.

The Wallaceburg woman was arrested and charged with two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking.  She remained in police custody as of Thursday morning

Observant citizen reports suspicious activity

A call from an alert member of the public is to thank for dismantling an alleged break and enter in progress in Chatham.

Around 5 a.m. Thursday, police responded to the report of a break and enter in progress at Trillium Village.

Officers located a man near a laundry room window with tools in his hand. Through investigation, police learned that the man was also currently wanted on several warrants and that he was bound by a curfew.

The 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested on the outstanding warrants and further charged with trespassing by night, failing to comply with his release conditions, being in possession of stolen cheques and break and enter tools.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with drug trafficking 

A man has a future court date after allegedly being caught with drugs in his possession in Chatham.

According to police, an officer on general patrol stopped the man on Wednesday night while he was riding his bicycle on Degge Street.

Through investigation, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl and large quantity of cash.

The 39-year-old Chatham man as arrested and charged with two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking.  He was released pending a future court date in August.

Vehicle stolen in Chatham

Police are appealing to the public for tips after a vehicle was stolen in Chatham.

Sometime between July 16 at 11 a.m. and July 21 at 9 a.m. unknown suspect stole a black 2018 Ford Fusion from a parking lot on Trillium Lane. The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates MUGSZEE.

Break and enter in Chatham

Police are investigating after a home in Chatham was broken into.

Sometime between July 18 at 7 p.m. and July 21 at 4:30 p.m., unknown suspects forced their way into a residence on Grand Avenue East, causing about $200 damage.

Once inside, the culprits stole an LG speaker tower with turn table, paint supplies and four trespassing signs.  Total value of the theft has been estimated at $820.

CK police nab over a dozen speeders

Several people will have to answer to speeding tickets after a traffic blitz by Chatham-Kent police.

Officers conducted the enforcement Wednesday on Middle Line. A total of 19 people were stopped and charged with speeding.
