Indoor pools in Chatham-Kent set to open July 26

Indoor pools and slides throughout Chatham-Kent will be opening back up on July 26.

The pool operations will comply with Ontario’s COVID-19 regulations, as well as local precautions identified by Chatham-Kent Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Colby.

CKRecreation staff said indoor swimming will resume with a reduced rate of $2, while all swimming at outdoor pools will remain free for the summer.

“We are happy to welcome community members back to our indoor pools,” said Manager of Recreation Services Ann Robinson. “We know there has been significant demand for our indoor pools over the last several months, so we are thrilled to once again be able to provide a safe space for our community to stay active and healthy."

The move to Step 3 also means that outdoor pools will no longer be zoned.  The pools will run at a reduced capacity and swimmers will be asked to remain two metres apart while in the pool.

Registration opens on July 21 and will continue to open one week prior to each swim.

Registration can be completed on the Chatham-Kent website.
