Traffic stop leads to drug trafficking charges

The long arm of the law has caught up with a 33-year-old man who was wanted in connection with a domestic-related incident.

Police said the man was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by an officer on Nelson Street in Wallaceburg Monday morning.

Once the officer learned that the man was wanted by police, he was arrested and at that time, police also allegedly found about $4,300 worth of suspected methamphetamine on him.

As a result, the man was was charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and he was taken into custody for court purposes.

Man charged after allegedly damaging cell phone

A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged with mischief after a verbal argument in Ridgetown took a violent turn.

Chatham-Kent police said the man was charged after a cell phone was damaged during an argument between a man and a boy late Monday afternoon outside of a residence in that town.

Police said the man was arrested, charged, and later released pending a future court date.

Police looking for stolen silver Dodge Caravan

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a 2004 silver Dodge Caravan that was reportedly stolen from a residence on Cedar Hedge Line sometime over the past couple of weeks.

Investigators said the van was unplated at the time.

Officers recover stolen transport truck

Police have recovered a transport truck that was reported stolen over the holiday weekend, but they're still investigating the theft.

Officers said the grey 2002 International 990 commercial truck with an attached 2020 PLA trailer was taken from a service centre on Victoria Road. The truck and trailer are valued at approximately $230,000 altogether.

Police said they found the truck on Beechwood Line on Monday with minor damage and they found the trailer on Hastings Line near Highgate.

Giant brand bicycle reported stolen in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police are also appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a white and black Giant Defy Advanced 2 bicycle and some tools that were reported stolen from a home in Chatham.

Police said they were taken sometime between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m. from a garage on Molengraaf Way.

The bike is valued at approximately $3,000 and the tools that were stolen are worth a combined $800.

Four unlocked vehicles broken into

Police are investigating after someone entered four unlocked vehicles in the Thornhill Crescent over the weekend.

Officers said the vehicles were entered sometime late Friday night or early Saturday morning, adding that they are still working with the owners to determine what, if anything, was stolen.
