100 Women Who Care CK continues to help others

The youth programs at the W.I.S.H. Centre in Chatham are getting an influx of cash thanks to a group of community-minded women.

100 Women Who Care Chatham-Kent recently selected the program as its latest recipient, presenting them with a cheque for $12,000.

"We are extremely grateful for the 100+ Women Who Care for their generous donation," said W.I.S.H. Centre Program Manager Jamie Ireland. "This will allow us to restart programs providing children with the social and physical activities safely during COVID, a beginning to restarting all youth programs within our community centre. On behalf of WISH centre staff and directors, thank you."

100 Women Who Care meets quarterly and each member commits to donating $100 to a local charity that is selected by a majority vote. For the past year, the group has been meeting online.

"These programs are so important and cover a broad spectrum of children in the community," said Colleen Warrener, the member who nominated the W.I.S.H Centre at the May meeting.

Since 2016, 100 Women Who Care CK has donated more than $215,000 to 19 charitable programs in Chatham-Kent. Its next meeting on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 will mark the group's 5th anniversary.

The group is also currently recruiting new members, so anyone who is interested in joining should contact 100WomenWhoCare.CK@gmail.com for more information.
