Men Charged with Domestic Related Offences

Chatham-Kent police have charged two men with domestic-related offences after separate incidents.

One of the men turned himself in to police Monday morning following several alleged assaults in Chatham that date back to the beginning of the relationship with his common-law partner. Police said the 42-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm and two counts of assault.

Then Monday afternoon, a 25-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with uttering threats, criminal harassment, and failing to comply with his probation order after he allegedly contacted his ex-girlfriend when he was ordered by the court not to communicate with her. Police said the woman received approximately 50 unwanted text messages and telephone calls from the man over four days.

Man Charged with Break and Enter

A 25-year-old Chatham man has been charged with break and enter and failing to comply with his release conditions after a break and enter at Value Village on Keil Drive in Chatham last week.

Police said various items valued at approximately $500 were stolen.

The man was arrested Monday night.

Stolen Vehicle in Chatham

Police are looking for whoever stole a vehicle in Chatham.

Investigators said someone stole a black 2016 Ford Focus from a home on Carnation Court sometime between 10 p.m. on Monday and 6 a.m. on Tuesday. The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates 6V2013.

Theft of Jewelry in Chatham

A Chatham thrift store is trying to get its stolen jewelry back with the help of police.

Investigators said somebody forced their way into the Bibles for Missions Thrift Store on Wellington Street West shortly after midnight on Tuesday, took $100 worth of jewelry, and caused about $1,000 in damage.

Stolen Bicycle in Chatham

Police in Chatham are trying to recover a stolen bike.

Police said sometime between Sunday at 9 p.m. and Monday at 9 a.m. someone stole a ‘We the People’ BMX bike with blue camouflaged tires from a garage on Blythewood Crescent. The bike is valued at approximately $1,000.

Motor Vehicle Collisions

Two drivers got a couple of tickets for their trouble after one allegedly went through a red light and the other was allegedly not paying attention to the road.

Police said a 30-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to stop for a red light Monday morning after a two vehicle crash on St. Clair Street near Oxley Drive in Chatham.  No one was injured.  Total damage was estimated at $25,000.

Monday afternoon, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Lindsay Road between Eberts Line and Brook Line and charged a 17-year-old Dresden teen with careless driving and being a G1 driver not accompanied by a qualified driver. Minor injuries were reported.  Total damage was estimated at $5,000.
