Traffic stop leads to $100K drug bust

A Walpole Island man has been charged with drug trafficking and impaired driving following a traffic stop near London on Sunday.

Around 1:30 a.m., reports came in to the Ontario Provincial Police about a possible impaired driver heading west on Highway 401 in Oxford County. The vehicle was located near Elgin Road in Thames Centre, where it was pulled over by Middlesex OPP.

According to the OPP, a search of the vehicle turned up methamphetamine, cocaine, LSD, and opiates. Police estimated the street value of the drugs at $100,000.

A 49-year-old Walpole Island man is charged with driving while impaired by drugs, four counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, and one count of possession of a schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking.
