More Church Charges

The Old Colony Mennonite Churches in Chatham-Kent continue holding services alleged to be contrary to the Reopening Ontario Act.

More charges were laid on Sunday after gatherings at the churches in Dresden, Charing Cross, and Wheatley.

A 50-year-old Dover Centre man and a 40-year-old Dresden man were both charged with failing to comply with a continued order of the Reopening Ontario Act, 2020.

The Wheatley gathering remains under investigation.

Drug Charges

A Chatham man has been charged with drug possession after officers found people in a Jeep Grand Cherokee with no license plates parked on Selkirk Street in Chatham on Sunday.

The vehicle was towed and a 35-year-old man from Chatham was allegedly found to be in possession of what police suspect is methamphetamine.

Assault Charges

Assault charges have been laid against a Windsor man following a disturbance at Walmart in Wallaceburg.

Police said the 46-year-old allegedly threatened and assaulted an employee at the store on Sunday. He was charged with assault and uttering threats.

Impaired Driving Charges

Chatham-Kent police have charged a Chatham man with impaired driving after a traffic stop on Dover Street in Chatham early Monday morning.

The officer alleged the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and transported him to police headquarters for breath tests.

The 32-year-old man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

Break and Enter Investigation

Police in Chatham-Kent are looking for whoever stole a dishwasher from a vacant house in Chatham.

Police said someone forced their way into a vacant house on Wade Street, causing about $2,000 in damage and allegedly took the $1,200 stainless steel Bosch dishwasher. The kitchen cupboards were smashed to get access to the appliance.

Church theft

An investigation is underway after a computer was stolen from a church in Chatham.

Police responded to an alarm at St. Andrew’s United Church on William Street early Monday morning and discovered someone had entered the church and allegedly stole the computer.

Police look for public's assistance

Chatham-Kent Police are appealing to the public for tips in hopes of identifying a woman in connection with a fraud investigation.
