Road rage prompts assault with an ice scraper

A 27-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged with assault after he allegedly hit someone with an ice scraper during an argument in Chatham.

Police said they made the arrest after they were called to a disturbance between two men on Indian Creek Road East near Queen Street in Chatham at around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Officers said the incident was sparked by a minor collision.

Police said they learned that one of the men involved had allegedly assaulted the other man with an ice scraper, causing minor injuries to the victim.

The accused was charged with assault with a weapon and later released from custody pending a future court date.

Police find methamphetamine on cyclist out past his curfew

A 32-year-old man is facing charges after he was allegedly caught carrying some illegal drugs while riding a bike out past his curfew.

Police said an officer on general patrol stopped the man on King Street East in Chatham shortly after 11 p.m. Monday for a Highway Traffic Act offence.

That's when the officer learned the man was out past his curfew. While police were searching the man, they allegedly uncovered some suspected methamphetamine in his possession as well.

He was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and drug possession and was later released from custody pending a future court date.

Tools stolen from garage in Raleigh Township

Chatham-Kent police are asking for your help to solve a break-in on Eighth Line where someone took off with some power tools.

Police said at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, someone entered an unlocked garage there and stole a Mastercraft cordless drill set, a Bosch cordless drill set, a Stihl chainsaw, an Echo chainsaw, and a Bosch leaf blower.

ATV reported stolen in Howard Township

Police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to find a blue 2004 Yamaha Bruin 350 ATV that was reported stolen from a property on Talbot Trail.

Officers said it was taken sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

The ATV is valued at approximately $1,500.

Purse and wallet targeted during break-in

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a break-in at an unlocked residence on Faircourt Avenue in Chatham where someone stole a purse and a wallet.

Police said the break-in took place sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Monday.
